"YOU WILL GROW IN THE LORD"

Cumartesi gunu sokakta yururken bir kilisenin onunden gectim. Kilisenin onunde bekleyen adam bana bir seyler uzatti. Ben de tesekkur edip aldim - ne de olsa bedava! Baktigimda, bir kagida sarilmis, Incil'den alintilar iceren ufak bir not defteri oldugunu gordum. Deftere sarilmis kagitta yazanlara gore, Incil'den yapilan bu alintilari defalarca okuyup, Tanri'dan bu kelimeler vasitasiyla kendisini bize belli etmesini istememiz gerekiyormus. Isler yolunda giderse, Tanri bizi duyacak ve kotuluklerden koruyacakmis. Son paragraf guzeldi:

"As the Scripture soaks into your heart you will grow in the Lord. You will see how wisdom is better than gold. In your daily walk. learn to ask the Lord for wisdom in everything. When you ask, quietly listen to see what he puts into your heart. This is the way you learn wise things to do. Seeking the Lord out of Scripture and asking him for wisdom brings healing to the soul and strength to do the wise thing."

Bu aralar Ingilizler'in unlu populer bilim yazari, ateist etnolog Richard Dawkins'in son kitabi "The God Delusion"i okuyorum. Soyle yazmis kendisi:

"To suggest that the original prime mover was complicated enough to indulge in intelligent design, to say nothing of misdreading millions of humans simultaneously, is tantamount to dealing yourself a perfect hand at bridge. Look around at the world of life, at the Amazon rainforest with its rich interlacement of lianas, bromeliads, roots and flying buttresses; its army ants and its jaguars, its tapirs and peccaries, treefrogs and parrots. What you are looking at is the statistical equivalent of a perfect hand of cards (think of all the other ways you could permute the parts, none of which would work) - except that we know how it came about: by the gradualistic crane of natural selection. It is not scientists who revolt at mute acceptance of such improbability arising spontaneously; commonsense bulks too. To suggest that the first cause, the great unknown which is responsible for something existing rather than nothing, is being capable of designing the universe and of talking to a million people simultaneously, is a total abdication of the responsibility to find an explanation. It is a dreadful exhibition of self-indulgent, thought-denying skyhookery."

"If (which I don't believe for a moment) our universe was designed, and a fortiori if the designer reads our thoughts and hands out omniscient advice, forgiveness and redemption, the designer himself must be the end product of some kind of cumulative escalator or crane, perhabs a version of Darwinism in other universe."

Bu hususta Dawkins'e tamamiyla katildigimi soylemem lazim.
